The poster put up by Delhi BJP to counter AAP's posters
New Delhi:
It's a poster war. The Delhi BJP has countered the Aam Aadmi Party's "Prime Minister Sir" posters with some of its own.
And it has wasted no time on creativity or aesthetics. Signed Kuljeet Singh Chahal, a vice president of the Delhi BJP, this poster lifts its theme neatly from the one plastered by the AAP government all over Delhi last week.
"Kejriwal sir, please answer," it says and then lists the many things that the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi could do with the 526 crore rupees it has budgeted for advertisements.
Mr Chahal suggests that the money could fund five lakh cameras for women's security in the capital, or 200 new schools and 50 new colleges. Even 2000 new buses, clean water for 1000 new unauthorised colonies or pension for five lakh people, it says.
So many suggestions does the BJP leader have that he runs out of space on the poster and has to crowd bullet points on it.
The AAP government posters targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying, "Prime Minister Sir, Please, let Delhi government work. Delhi government is working fine," in a reference to Chief Minister Kejriwal's allegation that the BJP-led Centre is using Delhi's Lieutenant Governor to create impediments in the functioning of his government at the behest of the Prime Minister.
In other ads, the Delhi government had attacked the Delhi Police and PM Modi over the brutal murder of a 19-year-old girl in the capital. Each ad has also projected the Delhi government's achievements.
The AAP government withdrew the posters and ads on radio and TV earlier this week, temporarily it said, in a mark of respect to former president APJ Abdul Kalam.
Earlier this week, the Delhi High Court censured the Kejriwal government saying its mega advertising campaign appears to violate new Supreme Court rules that ban politicians from wasting taxpayers' money on promoting their accomplishments.
