BJP's Limited Options: 3 Elected in Delhi, Who Will be Leader?
Om Prakash Sharma, Vijender Gupta and Jagdish Pradhan are the three BJP lawmakers in the new Delhi assembly
New Delhi:

Till about a week ago, meetings of the BJP's top leaders in Delhi were focused on how to win the election and form the government in the capital. Today, a conclave will handle a less headier proposition - which of its three lawmakers should be named the leader of the BJP in the state assembly.

Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won the election so decisively that even they were stunned. They acquired 67 of the 70 seats in Delhi. "The size of the victory is scary," said Mr Kejriwal publicly  before taking office as Chief Minister.

Vijender Kumar Gupta who is one of the three successful BJP candidates, is reportedly the front-runner for the Legislature Party Leader. He was elected from Rohini in West Delhi, one of the places where Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting.

Mr Gupta has in the past served as the president of the BJP's Delhi branch.

Mr Kejriwal's party had said that despite the fact that its members will fill virtually the entire legislature, it was willing to offer the post of Leader of the Opposition to the BJP, though to claim that office, a party is required to have at least 10% of the members of the assembly. The first session of the new Delhi assembly will convene on Monday.

Mr Kejriwal has already asked officials to propose how they will provide cheaper electricity and water, a promise he made in his campaign.
