New Delhi: The body of a 61-year-old woman was found in southeast Delhi's Jamia Nagar area, police said on Friday.
The body of the deceased, identified as Vakila Begum, a resident of Abul Fazal Enclave, was found yesterday afternoon. Her family had filed a complaint about her disappearance at Jamia Nagar police station few hours earlier.
There were no injury marks on the body but parts of her body appeared to have been eaten by animals, said a senior police officer.
Her family told police that she had left home to buy vegetables on November 16 but she didn't returned following which the family approached the police.
The body was found near her house in the Shaheen Bagh area. Her family claimed that she was wearing jewellery but it is missing now.
"The post-mortem report will help us ascertain the exact cause of death. She might have lost her way back home since she was old," said the officer.
