The body of a 20-year-old engineering student was found hanging from a tree at a park in west Delhi's Uttam Nagar area on Saturday.
The student, who later turned out to be the son of an assistant sub-inspector in Delhi Police, is suspected to have taken the extreme step out of depression caused by his performance in a particular subject, said a police official.
The student did not come home last evening, following which a missing report was lodged at west Delhi's Ranhoula police station.
His body, hanging from a tree at a forested zone inside a local park, was discovered by locals on Saturday morning and the police was informed, said the official.
The boy's identity was ascertained from his belongings, following which his family was informed and the body sent for post-mortem examination.
An inquest has been initiated in connection with the case, the official added.
