Boy moves court against school for not issuing transfer certificate

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday sought a response from the city government on a six year-old child's plea against a private school for allegedly not issuing him the transfer certificate.

Justice Kailash Gambhir issued the notice to the Directorate of Education and sought the reply by July 12 on Harsh's plea alleging the New Convent Secondary School, Tukmerpur, did not issue him the transfer certificate despite several requests.

Appearing for the boy, counsel Ashok Aggarwal submitted Harsh had studied in class-I in the academic year 2010-2011 in the school but now he is seeking admission in a school in Ghaziabad after the parents shifted the residence.

"Despite several requests from Harsh's father, the school has illegally withheld the TC and the Directorate of Education has failed to act upon his complaint," the lawyer said.

"Withholding of TC is illegal, unjust, arbitrary and a clear violation of fundamental rights to education," the counsel added.

The court fixed July 12 as the date for further hearing of the petition.
