New Delhi:
BSP chief Mayawati's younger brother Subhash Kumar was reportedly arrested by Delhi Police after he allegedly assaulted his nephew and his wife and also slapped an on-duty constable.
The incident took place on Wednesday morning when Mr Kumar, a resident of Naraina in southwest Delhi, reached Inderpuri where his nephew lived with his wife and allegedly got into a quarrel with them, police said.
"Around 9:30 am Mr Kumar, armed with a hockey stick, allegedly reached the couple's residence and repeatedly knocked on their door.
"When the door was not opened, he broke it open and then allegedly thrashed both his nephew and his nephew's wife," said a police official quoting the woman's complaint.
According to the police, the incident took place over a property dispute between them.
The couple made a call to the Police Control Room (PCR) following which a team rushed to the spot, they said.
When the police team confronted him, Mr Kumar allegedly slapped constable Jitender Singh twice following which he was apprehended by other policemen. Several charges of the Indian Penal Code have been applied against him.
"An FIR under sections 452 (house trespass), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 506 criminal intimidation, 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) of IPC have been registered against Mr Kumar at Inderpuri police station and he was arrested," police said.
However, they said, Mr Kumar has been released on a bail.
Further investigation in the case is underway, police said.
