BSP MLA's wife was killed by sons over property dispute: Police

New Delhi: Rehana, the second wife of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA from Uttar Pradesh Haji Aleem, was killed allegedly by two of her stepsons in New Delhi over a property dispute, Delhi Police said today.

A senior police official said that the Bulandshahr MLA's 40-year-old wife was murdered allegedly by his sons - Danish and Anas - from his first wife.

They were helped by their driver Nadeem, who was arrested from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh this morning, police claimed.

Rehana was murdered over a property dispute, they said, adding that her two stepsons are yet to be arrested.

Rehana was found murdered on October 9 morning at her New Jafrabad residence in North East Delhi while he was out of India on Haj pilgrimage.

The official said that Aleem returned the next day and was in Bulandshahr during Rehana's last rites.

It said that breakthrough came following Nadeem's arrest.

"During interrogation, Nadeem named the sons of the MLA," the official said.

The post-mortem report had shown 11 stab wounds on the victim's body, besides two gunshot wounds.

Rehana married Aleem in 1990. The couple has no children. Aleem has 28 cases pending against him while his brother is named in 16 cases.
