Three members of a gang of six, who had looted a vehicle carrying the consignment of a popular e-commerce firm on National Highway-8, have been arrested and the stolen items recovered from them, police said today.
The tempo carrying Amazon's consignment was looted by six persons on NH-8 on September 10. The driver was dumped in Rangpuri area by the robbers, who then fled in another vehicle with the goods.
"A case was registered in this connection at Vasant Kunj(south) police station," Nupur Prasad, Additional DCP (south) said.
During the investigation, police zeroed in on Monu Tomar, who was previously involved in a similar case of robbery. He was apprehended after he was seen wearing branded clothes and carrying expensive mobile phones.
Tomar later admitted to his role in the robbery along with his associates Deepak Pandey, Shibbu, Sagar, Anil and Rohit, police said.
Deepak was arrested from Rangpuri Pahari area and a mobile phone was recovered from his possession, Nupur Prasad said.
The vehicle used in the crime and other goods were recovered from the possession of the duo, the officer said.
Another accused Anil was also arrested today and three mobile phones, three pairs of shoes and other robbed articles were recovered from him, she said.
Efforts are on to apprehend the other three accused who are on the run as also to ascertain whether the gang was involved in similar crimes in the past, police said.
