Car driven by 14-year-old boy runs over two girls, one dead

New Delhi: One girl has died while another received injuries after a car, being driven by a 14-year-old boy, rammed into them on Wednesday. The incident took place in Jaitpur in south Delhi.

The boy, along with a friend of his, was trying to drive an Alto which belonged to the latter's uncle. The 14-year-old accidentally put the car in reverse gear and hit five-year-old Munni and four-year-old Himanshi. Munni died due to severe head injuries; Himanshi fractured her hand but is said to be stable.

The teen, after the accident, fled from the spot but was later apprehended by the police.

He was produced in front of the juvenile justice board where he admitted his crime. He has been allowed to go home, but will be summoned to court later for a test identification parade.

A case has also been registered against the owner of the car for allowing someone without a driver's licence to drive his car.
