New Delhi:
A chemist was beaten up in south Delhi's Yusuf Sarai area, allegedly by the security guards of a VIP woman, after he told her that he doesn't have the cough syrup she was looking for. The whole incident was caught on the CCTV camera installed in the shop.
The incident happened on September 17. The chemist Ashok Malik says that a man entered his shop at 10:30 pm and asked for a bottle of cough syrup that was out of stock.
The man then called his employer and made the chemist speak to her. The woman, Mr Malik alleged, abused him when she was told the medicine wasn't available. After she hung up, Mr Malik took her number and called her back to confront her. The woman told the chemist that her name was Richa Yadav and threatened him.
Shortly after that, Mr Malik said, four armed men entered the shop. The chemist alleged that two of the men were in khaki and looked like they were from Uttar Pradesh Police. The men started beating Mr Malik mercilessly for about 10 minutes after which they left.
The police have now registered a case of assault and intimidation. Mr Malik had earlier claimed that the cops refused to file an FIR after he approached them with a written complaint because the woman was an influential VIP.
