New Delhi: At a Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government approved the transfer of land for establishing a second Diplomatic Enclave in New Delhi's Dwarka Sector-24 area.
This comes after the Ministry of External Affairs had expressed the need for more land to diplomatic missions, chanceries and international agencies in the national capital.
The Delhi Development Authority agreed to transfer 34.87 hectares of land in Dwarka to the Land and Development Office "for the purpose of proposed Second Diplomatic Enclave," according to an official statement.
Presently, there is a Diplomatic Enclave in south Delhi's Chanakyapuri area which houses embassies and high commissions.
