New Delhi: Nobel Peace Prize winner and noted Child Rights activist Kailash Satyarthi today met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday where he discussed the issues of child rights and the protection of children.
He asked the Delhi Chief Minister to regulate placement agencies in the city as a large number of children are being trafficked by them.
"We need to regulate the placement agencies. Huge numbers of children are being trafficked and are used by these agencies. An order was issued by the court to make a law to regulate this in 2012. We need to work on it and do away with child labour," the Nobel laureate told Mr Kejriwal.
"We will do our best on the issues of concern discussed; all steps needed would be taken," Mr Kejriwal said.
The issues of bonded labour, how child labour is affecting the society and education for children were also discussed. Mr Satyarthi also told the chief minister how child labour rate has come down in the carpet making industry without any negative impact on the industry.
