New Delhi:
The scorching Delhi heat and the rush for college admissions has given the Delhi Metro record commuters.
Nearly 17 lakh people used the Metro on Monday as well as on Tuesday this week.
"The average ridership which used to be around 15.5 lakh during weekdays till May 2011 is now touching 16.5 lakh in June 2011, an increase of over one lakh passengers daily," a spokesperson for the Delhi Metro told PTI.
Metro officials attribute the hike to the capital's temperatures and the increased number of Delhi University bound student.
