New Delhi:
Many of us grew up marvelling at Chacha Chaudhary's superfast brain, Tintin's adventures, and Superman's powers. This weekend, Delhiites get to relive these memories and much more at the third annual Comic Con India, a convention tailored for lovers of comic books. Bigger and better this year, the festival is on through the weekend. Here are some attractions to watch out for.
Get a sampling of home grown heroes from Amar Chitra Katha in cool new
avatars, which children would fall in love with.
One stall sure to be a hit with youngsters is run by Hysteria Merchandise. Asterix tee-shirts, Tintin posters, Superman toys, and Joker masks - you name it, they have got it!
For adults, The Kuru Chronicles is a must-visit stall. A dark tale about the end of the world, inspired by the city of joy, Kolkata, is the brainchild of artist Ari Jayprakash. In case you don't fancy the book, you can always pick up a few handmade prints on the cheap.
Graphic novels are the new rage and you can pick up your favourite classics repackaged at the Campfire stall.
Among international publishers, participants include US-based Fantagraphics who are here with their popular Crumb series for adults. Also on offer are Joe Sacco's journalistic works as comic books.
And perhaps the most exciting bit - for both kids and adults - is Cosplay, a competition where you get to dress up as your favourite comic character and stand to win prizes.
