New Delhi:
Bhim Sain Bassi, who took over as the Commissioner of the Delhi Police today, has said that he is confident of arresting underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his aide Chhota Shakeel.
"The full facts are not known to me since I was looking after the administration. Apprehension is always a better option. But this is not the first time that a person who has been charge-sheeted has not been arrested yet," he said, while speaking to NDTV.
Dawood Ibrahim was on Tuesday named in the IPL spot-fixing case.The chargesheet, filed by the Delhi Police, also named Chhota Shakeel and cricketers S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankit Chavan (

The new police chief also apologised for the death of a stunt biker on Monday in the capital in police firing (

19-year-old Karan Pandey, who was riding pillion with a friend near the Parliament Street area, was killed by a bullet which a police team fired at them. Police say over 100 bikers were performing dangerous stunts and the shot was fired in a bid to control them.
Commissioner Bassi said the Delhi Police was planning to use decoys and counsel molesters to check crimes against women.
"After the December 16 incident, a number of steps are being taken. And one of them is registering cases. Consequently cases are on the rise. It's a healthy sign," he said.
