Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi addressing an election rally at Delhi's Jehangirpuri.
New Delhi: As the deadline for the end of campaigning for the Delhi Assembly elections drew closer, the Congress put up a show of strength.
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi addressed a rally in Jehangirpuri, a slum resettlement colony, and predictably, questioned the Modi government's stance towards the economically weaker sections.
"When were in government in Delhi, we used work for the poor. The new government is spending crores on their 'Make in India' campaign. Has anything been done for make in India? He is wearing a 10 lakh rupee suit and newspapers say this is also not made in India," said the Congress vice president.
Rahul Gandhi also held a roadshow in the Sadar Bazar and Jama Masjid areass of Old Delhi, to seek votes for Ajay Maken, Shoaib Iqbal and Haroon Yusuf.
As his truck passed through some of the most congested localities of Old Delhi, taking over three hours to cover a five kilometer stretch, curious onlookers captured the moment on their cell phone cameras.
Enthusiastic Congress workers climbed on top of buildings to shower petals when his truck passed by as thousands watched. But the key question is: will all this translate into votes? On Saturday, the people of Delhi will decide the fate of all the parties. Until then, every party is trying its best to connect with the voters.
