New Delhi: Two mobile phones without SIM cards, an improvised charger, batteries, 200 gm tobacco and a few contraband tablets - all concealed within tennis balls - were recovered from the premises of Tihar Jail in New Delhi today.
According to prison authorities, the incident was reported around 4.30 AM when an ITBP guard saw unidentified persons throwing a baggage near Central Jail number 8 and 9.
He alerted prison guards and an intensive search operation was conducted immediately, they said.
The guards recovered several tennis balls from near ward no. 1 and 2 in the central jail. The balls contained two mobile phones without SIM cards, an improvised charger, batteries, 200 gm tobacco and a few contraband tablets, said an official.
All prohibited items have been confiscated. Investigation is underway, the official added.
