A court in Delhi today fixed February 17 for hearing a complaint filed against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal seeking lodging of an FIR against him for allegedly misleading the people by stating that municipal corporations are not under the AAP government's control.
The matter which was posted for hearing before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rakesh Kumar was deferred as the judge was on leave.
The complaint would be heard by the court on February 17.
The complainant, Brijesh Shukla of Swaraj Janta Party, has sought direction to the SHO of Karawal Nagar police station in north east Delhi to register an FIR against Mr Kejriwal under Section 406 (criminal breach of trust) of IPC.
Mr Kejriwal had come out with a full-page advertisement in newspapers in October last saying there were misunderstandings regarding a strike by MCD employees and he wanted to make it clear that it was wrong to say that the corporations come under the Delhi government, Mr Shukla claimed.
"In November, 2015, I filed an RTI with Delhi government which in its reply has said that the corporations are under its control. Action should be initiated against him for misleading people and spending public money for spreading lies," the complainant said.
Mr Shukla said he had also filed complaints to the Deputy Commissioner of Police of north east district and the LG seeking registration of FIR against Mr Kejriwal for allegedly misappropriating public fund.
He claimed that no action was taken by the police on his complaint.
