New Delhi:

The accused, a PhD scholar at Delhi's Jawahar Lal Nehru University, has been arrested. A case was registered against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and section 376 of IPC.
The victim, a Class 8 student, was staying with the accused in a rented accommodation in Munirka Village area, the police said. According to her statement, the accused had been raping her for the last couple of months. His wife, who is the elder sister of the victim, lives in Uttar Pradesh with her in-laws.
The incident came to light when the victim was taken to a hospital after she complained of stomach ache. When the doctor's found that the girl was two months pregnant, they informed the police.
On questioning, the girl broke down and revealed her ordeal to the police. A medical examination also confirmed rape. However, no injury was found on her body. Her statement was recorded in the presence of a councillor from an NGO.
