New Delhi: Ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today issued a showcause notice to its dissident MLA Vinod Kumar Binny, a day after his outburst against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the party leadership.
The party has asked the Laxmi Nagar MLA to respond to the show-cause notice by 5 pm tomorrow.
"The party has issued a showcause notice to Vinod Kumar Binny for violating the party rules under section 6-1-a of the party constitution.
"He has been asked to respond to the showcause notice and give his reply to party's national secretary Pankaj Gupta by January 18 before 5 pm," party spokesperson Deepak Vajpayee said.
Sources said the showcause notice says the party is of view that Binny's press conference, where he attacked the government of Arvind Kejriwal and AAP, has "tarnished image of the party".
Despite several attempts to contact Binny, he remained unavailable for comment.
At the press conference yesterday, Binny had mounted a sharp attack on Chief Minister Kejriwal by calling him a "dictator" and accused his government of cheating people, prompting the party to threaten disciplinary action against the legislator.
