New Delhi:
To encourage people to exercise their franchise in the forthcoming Delhi Assembly polls, the Chief Electoral officer will launch an awareness campaign.
The election office is working on 'IMF' (inform, motivate and facilitate) programme to motivate people for registering themselves as voters.
"We are putting in our best efforts to ensure that maximum people register themselves as voters and exercise their franchise," Chief Electoral Officer, Vijay Dev said today, after convening a high-level meeting of officers of Delhi Government in his office.
He said he has sought a schedule from all the district magistrates and district election officers to ensure that they are launching the campaign at their level.
Dev said his office has appointed 863 campus ambassadors in universities, colleges and educational institutions in Delhi which mostly include principals, professors and lecturers to maximise the registration of youths.
He said his office will open registration desks in 130 Gender Resource Centres working for the poor and needy women of the society to register them under the voter registration scheme.
The chief electoral officer said massive campaign by organising nukkad natak, concerts, dance drama, door to door contacts and weekly markets will be held to involve the masses.
