Delhi businessman shot at in Rs 3 lakh heist

New Delhi: A 55-year-old businessman was shot and wounded in New Delhi while resisting four assailants who robbed Rs.3 lakh from his shop, police said on Tuesday. Three of the attackers have been arrested.

Kishori Lal Sharma was fired at in central Delhi's Paharganj area on Monday around 7 pm, police said.

"The accused fled from the spot after robbing Rs.3 lakh. While resisting the robbery, the businessman was hit by a bullet in abdomen," said a police officer.

After the robbers left Mr Sharma's shop, one of the attackers was overpowered by some passers-by, police said.

Sonu, 25, was caught by people and handed over to police but his associates managed to escape. The stolen amount was recovered from the spot, the officer said.

Two other attackers - Deviram, 28, and Pramod, 25 - were arrested on Tuesday morning from their hideouts in Delhi, police said.

During interrogation, they told police they were five and one of their associates was waiting in a car while four of them entered the shop and conducted the heist.

"A hunt is on for two other accused - Sarvesh and Lalu," said the officer.

"Sarvesh, who works in a private company in Noida, was the mastermind of the crime. He had earlier visited the businessman's shop," said the officer.
