New Delhi:
A five-year-old student of a government school in south Delhi was allegedly sexually assaulted by the driver of a private cab who ferried her to school, according to the police.
After the alleged incident, the girl had not gone to school for two weeks and complained of fever. On Monday evening, she finally told her parents about the alleged assault.
Her parents immediately approached the police and lodged a complaint.
Police has arrested the accused, a 33-year-old driver who used to ferry children to the school. He has been sent to 14-day judicial custody.
A case under sections 376/511 and sections of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences has been registered at the Govindpuri police station, police said.
Police investigation has found that the girl used to be alone with the accused, on her way to school, between Govindpuri and Greater Kailash area, after which other children were picked up in the cab.
