Arvind Kejriwal of the Aam Aadmi Party has taken charge as the eighth chief minister of Delhi. He arrived at the Delhi secretariat office on Saturday afternoon, after taking oath before a sea of supporters at the Ramlila ground. He pledged to ensure a corruption-free Delhi in the next five years.

He heads the list sent to the L-G; two controversial AAP leaders who were ministers in its 49-day tenure last year, are conspicuous by their absence - Somnath Bharti and Rakhi Bidlan.

- Manish Sisodia, a soft-spoken former journalist and Arvind Kejriwal's closest associate, is set to be Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi.
- Manish Sisodia is credited with strengthening AAP at the grassroots level after it lost all seven parliamentary constituencies in the Lok Sabha elections to the BJP last year.
- In the 49 days of AAP's last stint in government he served as minister for Education, PWD, Urban Development and Local Bodies.
The AAP Chief also raised the issue of full statehood with the Prime Minister. "Arvind also talked about full statehood to Delhi with the Prime Minister to which he assured that he will look into the issue," Manish Sisodia said.
"Arvind told the Prime Minister that both the Centre and the state government enjoy strong majority, therefore, it is a golden opportunity for both to work together to make Delhi a better city," Manish Sisodia told reporters after the meeting the Prime Minister.
Arvind Kejriwal, who was accompanied by senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia, reached the PM's residence around 10:30 AM and the meeting lasted for around 15 minutes.
