Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday underwent surgery at a city hospital for sinus problem and is stable.
75-year-old Ms Dikshit was admitted to the Fortis Escorts Heart Hospital on Thursday.
"Dikshit was today operated for Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) by her personal ENT consultant Dr Devinder Rai, Vice Chairman of Department of ENT in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital under the care of her personal cardiologist Dr Ashok Seth at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute," a statement said.
The Chief Minister has been suffering from sinusitis since last one year.
"Of late, she started having nasal obstruction which started impeding her day to day working specially her public speaking," the statement said.
Her surgery took about an hour and she is stable, the statement said, adding, Ms Dikshit will be discharged soon.
Dr Rai and his team comprising Dr Munish Munjal, Dr Nitya and Ishwar Singh from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital operated on Ms Dikshit.
A statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office said Ms Dikshit had been recently suffering from nasal allergies and sinusitis.
"She is recovering well and has been advised rest for few days," it said.
