New Delhi:
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday sought a regulatory framework for the battery-powered rickshaws, also known as e-rickshaws, whose numbers have been rising in the city.
She held talks on the issue with Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami.
"Dikshit underlined the need for formulating a feasible regulatory framework for e-rickshaws keeping in view the safety concern and the rickshaws being non-polluting," said a statement from the Chief Minister's Office.
"The rising number of e-rickshaws may create difficulties at the later stage," it added.
The e-rickshaws are at present not covered under the Motor Vehicles Act.
