The move will benefit lakhs of residents of about 60 unauthorised colonies.
New Delhi:
In a move that seeks to benefit lakhs of inhabitants of nearly 60 unauthorised colonies in north Delhi, the area's civic body today passed a proposal for approving building maps for constructions in such colonies.
Leader of House in BJP-ruled North Delhi Municipal Corporation Yogender Chandolia proposed for passing the building maps in unauthorised colonies in areas falling under NDMC's jurisdiction, which was unanimously passed by its Standing Committee during its meeting.
The committee also resolved for extending the benefits of relaxation under the Delhi Master Plan 2021 including approval of building maps in all the unauthorised colonies regularised by the Central government.
"The move will benefit lakhs of residents of about 60 unauthorised colonies under jurisdiction of the NDMC," Mr Chandolia said.
"The move will not only help residents of uanuthorised colonies to undertake building construction legally, it will also boost revenue of the municipal corporation," he said.
"Since the Delhi government has announced to regularise these colonies and undertaken development works there, these colonies will automatically gain the status of 'uanuthroised regularised colony", he said.
"Presently, the municipal corporation does not approve building maps in these colonies due to lack of proper civic amenities while maps are approved in 'unauthorised regularised colonies', Mr Chandolia added.
After approval of the resolution, the public notice concerned will be issued for implementation of the decision, a civic official said.
