Delhi: Constable helps man recover jewellery at metro station

New Delhi: An alert CISF constable helped a Delhi Metro commuter recover his bag containing jewellery worth Rs 8 lakh, which he had forgotten at a Delhi Metro station.

The incident happened yesterday evening at the Karol Bagh metro station when CISF constable Shashikant noticed an unattended bag at the X-ray baggage screening machine.

The trooper immediately alerted his seniors and on verification, it was found that the bag contained diamond rings, gold necklaces, ear rings and other jewellery.

On further checking, it was found that the bag contained identification of Gopal Babu, a resident of Tilak Nagar in the national capital.

Babu came to the station and after due diligence, he was given his bag which he said he had forgotten in a hurry and picked a different bag of the same type. He informed the metro authorities that the value of the jewellery was Rs 8 lakh, a senior CISF official said.

Earlier this month, a CISF jawan had helped a Metro commuter recover his bag containing Rs 1 lakh cash, which he had forgotten at Chawri Bazar Metro station.

The Central Industrial Security Force guards all the stations of the Delhi Metro in the national capital region.
