A constable was allegedly beaten up in east Delhi by four drunk men when he tried to prevent them from molesting a woman was travelling in a car with her brother, police said.
One of the accused was arrested by the police. He was identified as 19-year-old Neeraj who works as a driver.
22-year-old constable Mohit Kumar, who was posted at east Delhi's New Ashok Nagar police station, was beaten up by the accused when he reached Eastend Apartments after receiving a molestation call around 10.30 pm on Monday.
"The accused first beat up the 21-year-old woman's brother. After arriving at the spot when beat constable Mohit tried to intervene, the accused thrashed him as well. In the meantime some other policemen arrived and overpowered one of the accused while the others escaped," said a police officer.
