A 40-year-old Delhi Police constable was killed in a road accident in Delhi when his motorbike was hit by a speeding truck from behind early Friday, police said.
Constable Suresh Kumar, deputed to the 4th battalion of Delhi Armed Police, was heading towards Anand Vihar Inter State Bus Terminal in east Delhi from his residence in Shalimar Garden in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad district when he was knocked down by the vehicle.
The incident took place in Ghazipur area in east Delhi around 12.05 am.
Police said Mr Kumar, who is survived by his 16-year-old daughter and wife, was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 6 a.m.
"The truck driver fled from the spot after the incident. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against the errant unidentified truck driver and a hunt is on to arrest him," a police official said.
