The temperature in Delhi today is four degrees higher than the season's average.
New Delhi:
Delhi today recorded its hottest day of the year, with the temperature touching 44 degrees.
"The maximum temperature was recorded at 44 degrees Celsius. It is the hottest day of the season so far," a Meteorological Department official said.
The maximum temperature recorded was two degrees higher than yesterday and four degrees above the season's average.
The minimum temperature settled at 23.8 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average. The Met office has predicted partly cloudy skies along with the possibility of a dust storm or thunderstorm towards evening and night.
"Skies are expected to remain partly cloudy today with dust/thunderstorm likely to occur towards evening/night.
Many took to Twitter to complain about the soaring temperature.
Commuters on Delhi's roads had it worst, with a section of taxi drivers protesting a Supreme Court decision to ban cabs operating on diesel and petrol.
The protesting drivers took to the roads at many places in the capital, causing hardships for school-going children and office-goers.
The condition was worse on the Delhi-Gurgaon and Delhi-Noida borders and near west Delhi's Rajokri area.
