Delhi experiences slight respite from last week's intense heat

New Delhi: Delhi experienced slight respite from last week's sizzling heat as temperature came down by few notches on Monday with MeT officials dubbing it as a temporary relief.

With maximum temperature registered at 42.6 degree C on Monday, there has been a slight decrease in day temperature from last week's 45.7 degree C, which was the highest for the month of May in a decade, MeT officials said.

They, however, added that it was a temporary respite following a western disturbance affecting Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Temperatures may rise again once this subsides, the officials said.

The weather condition continued to be hot and humid as the maximum temperature was still two degree above normal, with humidity at 56 per cent.

The minimum temperature stood at 30.2 degree C, which was three notches above normal and one degree above Sunday's 30.5 degree C.

The weather department predicted a partly cloudy sky with possibility of thunderstorms in some areas within the next 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperature is expected to be around 44 degree C and 30 degree C on Tuesday.
