The foot overbridge which was being constructed nearJawaharlal Nehru Stadium but had collapsed just days ahead of Commonwealth Gameswill now be reconstructed.
The collapse of the bridge had caused a major embarrassment to Delhi governmentin wake of the mega event. "We have decided to reconstruct the footoverbridge and the work on it is likely to begin soon," said a seniorgovernment official said.
He said the government is not going to spend any extra money and the contractorwill have to bear the cost of rebuilding the bridge. The 95 metre longunder-construction foot overbridge had come crashing down on September 21, lastyear injuring 27 people. The army had later constructed a temporary Baileybridge which was removed after the Games were over.
