A 23-year-old German MBA student, interning in Delhi, was allegedly molested by an auto driver and robbed by some other persons in the city, police said on Friday.
Police said the victim, pursuing MBA in Germany, came to India a few months ago and was doing her internship at Max Mueller Bhavan and residing in Greater Kailash. The victim is scheduled to return to Germany in April this year.
According to police, the victim had taken an auto from Ferozshah Road under Barakambha Road police station area on March 8.
"When the auto reached Lajpat Nagar area, the driver stopped the vehicle in a secluded area, citing a problem in the vehicle. Thereafter, he started searching instruments kept under the rear seat and started molesting her," said a senior police officer.
Meanwhile, some other persons reached the spot and robbed her of valuables and fled from the spot.
After the incident, she had on March 12 approached Lajpat Nagar police station but was asked to approach Connaught Place station from where she was sent to Barakhamba Road Police Station.
"We are taking the help of footage of CCTVs installed in Janpath and Barakhamba area from where she took the auto," said a senior police officer.
The officer also said that based on the victim's complaint, a case under Section 354A (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and some other sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at Barakhamba Road Police station.
