Gold bars and jewellery valued at over Rs 1 crore have been seized from seven passengers, who were allegedly trying to smuggle it into the country, at the airport in Delhi.
Customs officials had intercepted seven passengers after their arrivals in the capital.
Of these, four arrived from Dubai and two from Bangkok today. Another passenger had arrived in the city yesterday from Dubai.
The seven passengers were collectively carrying gold bars and jewellery weighing 4.319 kgs, which was recovered from them, a Customs official said adding the value of the gold is about Rs 1.10 crore, he said.
Of these seven persons, one was arrested by Customs officials for carrying gold jewellery worth more than Rs 30 lakh, the official said.
The other six accused were being interrogated by customs officials.
