New Delhi: The AAP government today approved the "Home to Hospital" scheme to provide free ambulance services in the national capital.
The decision was taken in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The scheme will be provided to people by Centralized Accident & Trauma Services (CATS).
Under the scheme, 110 new ambulances will be procured besides setting up of a modern and state of the art Control Room.
"There would be 100 basic life support and 10 advanced life support ambulances. Additional manpower for the new ambulances as well as human resource deficit in the existing 155 ambulances and Control Room would also be taken care of," a senior official said.
Free CATS services will be made available under the scheme in emergency situations, he said.
"Free services include injuries of chest, abdomen, pelvis or spine, crush injuries or severe allergy or drowning, any burn caused by electric shock or lighting, any other life threatening, medical emergencies," the official said.
Such service will continue in existing medical situation - accident and trauma victims, transportation of pregnant women for delivery and post delivery, victims of sexual assault, inter-hospital transfers etc, he said.
