New Delhi:
A 24-year-old gym instructor was allegedly shot dead by two men when he tried to intervene in an altercation involving the duo and an autorickshaw driver in east Delhi's Ghazipur on Friday evening, police said.
One of the two, identified as Sajid, has been arrested and a murder case was registered in this connection while search for the other person is on, they said.
The incident happened at around 7.15pm when Sujeet, the instructor, tried to mediate between the autorickshaw driver and the two passengers over a fare dispute, police said.
The two passengers, who were allegedly drunk, had snatched the keys of the autorickshaw from the driver during the altercation. It was then when Sujeet intervened and requested them to hand over the keys, police said.
Though the duo returned the keys to the driver and left the spot, they returned with a country-made pistol and opened fire at Sujeet after barging into the gymnasium, where he was the instructor, they added.
Sujeet sustained a bullet injury on his neck and was declared brought dead at a city hospital, police said.
