New Delhi:
Dilbagh Singh, one of the well-known faces of Delhi club cricket and founder of the Delhi Gymkhana Club, died today at the age of 81.
Mr Singh, who had played Ranji Trophy for Jammu and Kashmir in the 1950's, was an active club cricketer, serving Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) in various capacities including that of being a selector.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter. His younger son Bantu Singh, was a dependable middle-order batsman for Delhi during the mid 80's to early 90's and has also captained the side.
DDCA president Sneh Bansal sent his condolences on Mr Singh's demise.
"He was one of the pillars of Delhi's club cricket and a man of integrity. As a selector, he was above reproach. His passing away is a great loss for the state," Mr Bansal said.
