Earlier the court had scrapped the transfer point criteria, but it was challenged by other parents
New Delhi:
The Delhi High Court will today once again be hearing a number of cases regarding nursery admissions in the national capital, in what seems to have become a never-ending and long-winding series of petitions and pleas from aggrieved parents and schools.
On Monday the High Court had extended its stay on nursery admissions till March 28. The court had asked the Delhi government for all data on admissions including seats, number of unaided private schools, point system criteria. Not satisfied with the manner in which the government submitted the data, the court asked the government to submit it as an affidavit.
This is the first time the admission process has dragged on for this long, with the Directorate of Education (DoE) giving out at least 15 notifications and the nursery admissions having been put on hold for at least four times; leading to utter confusion.
Earlier the court had scrapped the transfer point criteria on a plea by several parents and asked for a fresh draw of lots. But this too was challenged in court by other parents.
The court will be hearing several cases on Friday that have been clubbed together and also deciding the fate of children after going through the data provided by the Delhi government on the lotteries conducted so far. Usually the admission process gets over by March 31st but it is far from over this time.
