New Delhi: A man was allegedly killed by his friend over a mere Rs 80 in the Hari Nagar area of West Delhi, police said today.

Pappu Yadav (27) has been arrested for allegedly killing Vinod during a dispute over sharing Rs 80 between them, they said.

Pappu and Vinod, who knew each other, had been working as labourers for the past three-four years.

They lived at a 'rain basera' (night shelter) in Yamuna Bazar near Old Delhi Railway Station.

On October 30, they worked at a function organised in Janakpuri. Happy with their performance, the organiser on Saturday gave them gifts and Rs 100 to be shared between them.

Of the Rs 100, the two bought liquor worth Rs 20 and started drinking in the same area. The remaining Rs 80 was to be shared between them.

But after consuming liquor, Vinod and Pappu started fighting over the remaining amount. During the scuffle, Pappu used a rope to strangle Vinod and fled the spot.
