The Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested a man who allegedly hit his friend with a brick on the head and left him on a railway track, reportedly because he wanted to marry his friend's wife.
The accused, Gulkesh, on Monday night called his friend, Dalbir, and took him to a railway track near Zakhira in north Delhi and hit him with a brick, police said.
The accused then dumped Dalbir on the railway track so his body would be run over by a train, the police said.
The accused then called the police and alleged that the body of an acquaintance of his way lying on the railway track, the police said, and added that during preliminary investigation, Gulkesh made efforts to mislead the police.
"During interrogation, his mobile phone was checked and on the basis of call records, he broke down and disclosed that he had a relationship with the wife of the victim. He wanted to marry her, but the wife of the victim was not willing to marry with him although she also liked him. Therefore, in order to get married with the wife, he hatched a conspiracy to eliminate the victim," the police said.
The police is now investigating the role of Dalbir's wife in the case.
