Delhi Metro stages street plays to promote museum

New Delhi: To popularise the Delhi Metro Museum among tourists visiting the national capital, street plays were organised by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) at several stations, an official said today.

The plays were staged on Friday, Saturday and today at the Patel Chowk, Akshardham and INA Metro stations as these are close to tourist hubs like in the city like Jantar Mantar, Akshardham temple and Delhi Haat, a statement from the DMRC said.

"Through the plays, the tourists are being told of the main attractions at the museum. Leaflets detailing the exhibits at the museum were also distributed among those watching the plays," the DMRC said.

"This initiative is one of many taken to popularise the museum. The HoHo (Hop-On-Hop-Off) bus service now stops at Patel Chowk metro station so that tourists can visit the museum. Special trips for school children are also organised regularly," the statement said.

The purple-colour HoHo buses ferry tourists in Delhi, making stops at around 20 prominent tourist spots.
