Delhi MP's Car Collides With Uma Bharti's Escort Vehicle
New Delhi: Three people, including two policemen, were injured after BJP leader and Delhi MP Parvesh Verma's car collided head-on with union minister Uma Bharti's escort vehicle today, police said.

Both the minister and the MP were not present in the vehicles when the incident took place at Vijay Chowk, the square in front of Rashtrapati Bhavan in central Delhi.

Police said Mr Verma's driver, Naveen was driving the Toyota Fortuner on the wrong side.

"The incident took place around 6 pm when Naveen was driving the Fortuner car towards Parliament after exiting the media parking lot. Uma Bharti's cavalcade was also approaching Parliament when the SUV rammed into a gypsy which was part of the Union minister's convoy," said a police official.

"Verma's car driver along with head constable Suresh Kumar and constable Trilok Chandra of Bharti's escort vehicle received minor injuries," said a police officer.

Both the vehicles were going to Parliament to pick up the two leaders as they were leaving.

A case has been registered against the driver.

Police said that they would scan CCTV footage of the entire stretch to piece together the exact sequence of events.

The incident comes close on the heels of the death of Union minister Gopinath Munde who was killed in a road accident in the national capital.
