Delhi Police is being sensitised to security needs of people from north-eastern states living in Delhi.
New Delhi:
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that Delhi Police is being sensitised to the security needs of people from the north-eastern states living in the national capital.
"We are making Delhi Police more and more sensitive to the security needs of our friends from the northeast. Delhi Police has recruited over 450 smart young boys and girls from the northeast in the last one year," the minister said while addressing the 53rd Annual Meet of the Naga Students' Union Delhi (NSUD).
He said that the government is committed to ensure that the Naga people have their rightful honour, dignity and pride of place in the country.
"I know that India cannot be happy if our Naga brothers and sisters are unhappy, and India cannot be great unless our Naga brothers and sisters share this sense of greatness," he said.
He also asked the Naga students to bring to his notice any suggestion that may strengthen their sense of security.
"Feel free to bring it to my notice. I will do my best," the minister said, adding that the Home Ministry has a minister from the northeast - Kiren Rijiju "who can understand your problems and relate with you better".
The Home Minister also appreciated the role of Naga Students' Union in Delhi, saying it provides care of a family to the Naga students.
