Delhi:
Delhi Police is preparing calendars and notepads with an aim to create awareness about prevention of crime against women.
The Special Police Unit for Women and Children of the city police will print special wall calenders, table calendars and notepads in English and Hindi with messages about prevention of crime against women.
"Our attempt is to create awareness about crime against women. The calendars and note pads will have information like what one should in case of a woman being subjected to attacks," a senior police official said.
Cases of gang rape of young women in the past few months in the Capital had led to a public outrage and raised questions over safety of women in the country's capital city.
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had a meeting with top Delhi Police officials, including Commissioner B K Gupta, yesterday during which a slew of measures were announced to ensure safety of women in the city.
Gupta has told the meeting that more women officers will be deployed in police stations and more PCR vans in vulnerable areas. It will also set up of citizen panchayats to ensure security of women.
More personnel with proficiency in English will be deployed in its women help line service, Gupta has said, adding, at least 100 Hyundai cars will be deployed to monitor patrolling by police personnel.
