New Delhi: A Delhi Police head constable and a home guard were badly beaten up by a group of unidentified men in the capital, police said on Friday.

The incident was reported from east Delhi's Pandav Nagar on Thursday night.

"At the time of the incident both the victims were deputed to a police picket," said a police official.

According to the official, head constable Dalchand had stopped a motorcycle rider to check his documents as he was driving at a high speed.

"A heated argument ensued between Dalchand and the motorcycle driver who was drunk. The motorcycle rider then left the spot and returned in a few hours with four-five friends carrying wooden sticks and iron rods," the official said.

"The accused then assaulted the duo and fled from the spot. Both the victims were rushed to a nearby hospital from where Home Guard Sahib Singh was discharged after first aid while Dalchand is still being treated," he said.

The official said that Dalchand is out of danger but has got fractures on both hands and head.

In other such incidents, two traffic constables were assaulted by two TSR drivers in south Delhi's Sarojini Nagar and west Delhi's Madhuban Chowk on Tuesday.
