New Delhi: A 26-year-old Delhi Police constable apparently tried to commit suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver on Sunday, police said.
The constable Vipin, who was posted at Barakhamba police station in the heart of the capital, fired at himself around 8.00 am, a few hours after issuing his service pistol from the police station.
"He was rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where his condition is stated to be critical," a police official said.
Vipin belongs to Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. His marriage was fixed for February 10.
Police said they are investigating why Vipin shot himself.
