New Delhi:
A Delhi Police head constable was on Saturday suspended on charges of a rape attempt, an officer said.
Raj Kumar, who is attached to Sarai Rohilla Police Station in north Delhi, was accused by a woman of harassing her and trying to rape her at her house on Thursday when she was alone.
In her complaint filed on Friday, the woman said that Mr Kumar forcefully entered her house in an inebriated condition and tried to rape her.
The woman informed police that she called her husband, who made a call to the Police Control Room (PCR) before locking Raj Kumar inside his house.
The head constable, however, managed to escape from the spot, the officer said, citing the woman's complaint.
The woman also informed police that Mr Kumar used to call her at odd hours and was stalking her for a few days.
"Following the woman's complaint, Raj Kumar was placed under suspension and further investigation has been ordered," the officer said.
