New Delhi: In a relief for a senior citizen suffering from a disorder requiring frequent blood transfusions, the Station House Officer (SHO) of her area and several other Delhi Police officers today donated blood for her as she was unable to find any volunteer donors.
Inspector Sanjay Bharadwaj, the SHO of Prashant Vihar police stations, came to know about the woman's predicament during his routine visit to the homes of senior citizens residing in Rohini Sector 13 in north-west Delhi.
The woman informed him that she has been diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, a disorder which results in ineffective production of all blood cells and requires blood transfusions.
She said that she was undergoing treatment at BL Kapoor Hospital and was having difficulty in finding donors who would donate blood as replacement for the blood that the hospital would provide her.
"Knowing this I contacted my personal friends Rajeev Bharadwaj, SHO of KNK Marg, Parmod Gupta, SHO of Kotwali, and others and went to the hospital. We all donated replacement blood for her and gave the blood donation cards to her at her home," Inspector Bhardwaj said in a statement.
