New Delhi:
A Delhi Police head constable was shot at by three alleged chain snatchers during a raid, police said on Monday. The accused have been arrested.
Manoj Kumar, 38, was shot at near west Delhi's Bindapur on Sunday evening around 7.30 p.m. when he raided the area alone on a tip-off regarding a gang of chain snatchers.
"When Mr Kumar, who is deputed with Delhi Police's Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS), caught the snatchers, they fought with him and then shot him in his hand after snatching his service revolver. The accused then fled," said a police officer.
"Hearing the gunshot, a police patrol caught the trio in JJ Colony as they were fleeing with the pistol," added the officer.
The accused are Mohammed Mustafa, Mohammed Mukhtyar and Mohammed Yusuf.
"Mr Kumar is out of danger. A case has been registered," the police officer added.
